About training
Cultural Tourism Guide – This is the vocational training program offered exclusively by the Tourism Academy Newkaz, which has been implemented since 2005, and in 2024 the program gained governmental recognition and Vocational Training Program status.
The duration of the program is 3 months and includes theoretical training 3 days a week, in the evening hours. Sundays are devoted to practical study trips in Tbilisi and the regions. Each trip is preceded by a theoretical discussion and elaboration of the route and included objects in order to maximize the efficiency of information absorption.
The program includes transportation costs during trips to the regions. In parallel with lectures, seminars and practical trips, the program includes simulation exercises so that the trainees can practically master the real features of the guide profession and be able to demonstrate their knowledge and skills with trainers accredited by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, to gain experience and recommendations.
The program includes all the basic topics that a cultural tourism guide needs to acquire the knowledge and skills to start a new professional activity. Also, the teaching of the First Aid learning outcome will be carried out by the Georgian Red Cross Society.
The program will end with a tour planning presentation, a general written test and a practical walking tour exam, which will be evaluated by the program implementers. Upon completion of the professional training program, a state-recognized certificate will be issued, which records the knowledge and skills achieved by the person within the program.
Trainees will also be able to receive a first aid certificate from the Georgian Red Cross Society.
